Find Out How Orthodontic Treatment Can Benefit Your Child

WHEN SHOULD YOU BRING YOUR CHILD TO THE ORTHODONTIST?

Age 7 is when the American Association of Orthodontists recommends you bring your child in for their first evaluation. Orthodontic treatment can do wonders for your child's self-esteem and set them up for success.

BUT THEY STILL HAVE BABY TEETH...

Baby teeth help guide the eruption of adult teeth. By catching dental or jaw growth problems early on, we can prevent them getting worse and possibly eliminate the need for treatment later in life. Depending on your child's case, Dr. Lee may prescribe removable retainers, partial braces, or special devices that can help modify growth or stop bad habits, such as thumb-sucking.

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN YOUR CHILD...

  • Early or late loss of baby teeth

  • Difficulty in chewing or biting

  • Mouth breathing

  • Jaw that shifts or makes sounds

  • Speech difficulties

  • Biting the cheek or roof of the mouth

  • Facial imbalance

  • Grinding or clenching of the teeth

  • Thumb-sucking or other oral habits

If you notice any of these traits in your child, we invite you to bring them in for a complimentary consultation. Dr. Lee will perform a full exam and let you know how we can help your child have a bright, confident smile.
